Anchorages in Ft Myers, Fl

We will be visiting Ft Myers in December and would like to anchor for about 3 weeks there. Our kids live in the vicinity of the Sanabel Island bridge.

Can anyone recommend a good all weather anchorage that has reasonable access to SW Ft Myers. If not an anchorage, how about a marina that has reasonable dockage rates?

Thanks.

Tony...we stayed at the Cape Coral Municipal Marina which provided easy access to Ft. Myers and was friendly and relatively inexpensive. You can also anchor out inn the Caloosahatchie River but I wouldn''t call it an all weather anchorage. I''ve also seen people anchor in the lee of the Sanibel Island Bridge in reasonable weather and of course there is a large fleet anchored in Ft. Myers Beach just past the bridge...but that is a ibt of a hike to SW Ft. Myers.
Hope this helps! GB

The anchorage just to the south of the bridge at Estero Island use to be ok. I have not been in it for a long time but you could tie your dink up to the docks and slip into town but it was a fair hike to south Ft Myers.Their are some locals you want to steer clear of you can pick them right out if it smells fishy it most likely is. Lock up.
