Parties need to be organized or else you get the results you're getting.

Make a list of items needed and send it out to everyone invited. Ask them to put their name besides what they're bringing and to reply to everyone when they add their name.

Get new friends? Over this?

Well... part of the reason for parties, as distinct from smaller get-togethers, is to expand your social circle, maybe get to know folks you might not otherwise have met. Not that I'm a social butterfly by any means, but it does appear possible that even my preference for solitude dims in comparison to those who self-selected themselves for the solitude of off-shore cruising.

Funny I'm in a small Victorian group and those pot lucks and gatherings at my house go well. Also when I've had house parties they've gone very well! I've always been rather organized about such things. I just have to resign myself to the fact that I've cheap friends. One said he'd bring burgers one time, knew it was about 8 people coming, brought 4 burgers LOL.
This thread is helping me realize how cheap most of my friends are!

Denise -

Be sure to come to MYC for the next Chesapeake gathering. You'll see people who pitch in.

best, dave

Dave is right about that. We have always have good get togethers.

Who can forget the Shauns seafood fest...or his pig
Who could forget Waynes drink
Who could forget Jayne and Dans kobos with the neat holders..or Dans Pineappple wedger

There were countless others who brought great eats too.

Denise will be there by the way. We are planning for her and Hank to come down earlier in the day and go out for a small sail with us to welcome other in

Dave
