Jacksonville might get slammed by a tropical storm today

With the warm water temps, the tropical conditions are really starting to heat up...

Dude, that is just a thunderstorm.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain

Actually, it's an area of low pressure of interest. It's not a tropical system yet, but has the potential to develop. NWS is keeping a close eye on it as it moves over the peninsula and if it holds together out over the gulf.. If it develops, it will be called Arlene.

The thunderstorm that rip through Jax can be horrendous. In the first years I lived in the neighborhood, the local weatherperson would be telling you what street the tornado was on. I had no idea where the streets were. It was nerve racking. I would have to turn the tv off........i2f

I'm watching this one, as well as that big system south of Cuba, since we are racing from Galveston to Port Isabel this weekend.

So far, they're thinking some rain and t-storms in the northern Gulf - but nothing big. Still worth watching.

60 to 80 miles away can be a big difference. Systems have to start, and end somewhere............i2f
