I only have a windex, and I use it all the time to determine optimum points of sail. But after reading this thread to go out and buy a handheld meter, so I got this (click pic for link to listing):



I suspect it will get very little use, but maybe when I'm curious in a heavy blow I'll pull it out and see what the apparent wind is. Note that this model can also function as a hand bearing compass.
