Tiller Pilots

I am looking into buying a tiller pilot. I am seriously looking at the TP20 with remote made by Simrad. AI''ve read about the Raymarine T1000 and it seems to burnup and fail after any hard use. Does anyone have any experience with the TP20 ?

I have found that for tiller pilots, go with one size larger than the saleperson sayes you need. A tiller pilot will fail if it is trying to operate at the top end of its performance envelope. Getting a larger unit will cost more, but will probably go a long way in preventing burned out servos. No point in skimping on a piece of equipment you will come to rely in once you start using it.

I concure I was told by westMarine that I could go with the autohelm 1000 I stepped up to the 2000 and have been very pleased with the results.
