Sailing Lake Winnipesaukee in NH

Went out with one of my buddies this past Sunday to take out the boat. It's a new boat to me (Tanzer 26), and I'm still working out the kinks and making sure I have a good feel for the boat - and the lake for that matter - before I take out the girls.

Lots of wind... Too much actually. Had to take down the jib as it was too much. Once out in the middle we noticed everyone else doing the same. Either a main sail only... Reefed mainsail... Heck, I even saw one boat with only a storm jib up.

Eventually the wind died down enough we put the large jib back up to make headway on a close reach to get back to port. GPS says we hit 8.3 knots with only the main sail up and heading downwind.

Fantastic day and snagged some video:

Great video, like the underwater shots...good luck with
the new boat. Be careful with lady folk or anyone for that
matter...pick a day with just enough wind for a first sail on the new boat as it could influence their outlook on sailing for the long term. Don't want to terrorize anyone
first time out..there will be plenty of time for that!
8.3 knots on a 26 fter?? I have to clean my bottom...err
that is the boats bottom. Welcome aboard and enjoy.

Very cool video! I really miss being on that lake. It has been a long time since I was able to see the bottom of my keel in the water. Enjoy the rest of the season.

Very nice video. It's great to see another NH sailor here. Last Sunday was a great day to sail in our state. My wife and I were racing our O'Day Mariner in Lake Massabesic in the lower part of the state. We were seeing 10-15 knot winds with guts to 25 or so. Pretty awesome.
