Gawd I hope not. I just looked over there for the first time and it was *way* too scary to want to go back!

None of the expected things have anything to do with rep power - there are members on the board who have under 100 posts and membership of a few months with rep power of 8.

By contrast Sailingdog has been a member for 6 years, has over 43000 posts many of which had significant value and if I remember correctly he had a rep power of 9 when he departed.

The new members must have been giving away new Hinckleys to get rep power that fast

At one time SD had a rep of 20, as it used to go up based on pot count too, That was dropped somewhere along the line. Some even had a red square, which was a negative rep. I think one still does have the red square! He calls it his red badge of honor. The neg rep came from some posts in the off topic political area, as some folks did not like his views, so you could give some one neg rep! Thank fully this has been dropped, along with the post count adding rep too! Glad both of these are gone.

So now it is the, if some one gives you some rep, or time will up it some too. If you go to "user cp" above, you can find out if someone, whom also and what post you got the rep from, assuming you have some rep from some one!LOLOL

It is seemingly "unimportant" to most of us here. Rep Power does stand for something otherwise.

I think it will be a good time for the Forum God makes an appearance to share with us how it works.

TBH: I think most people rarely notice it, save when somebody brings it up. I'm not dissin' it. It's nice that some number of people felt what I'd contributed worthwhile enough to take the time to give me a rep. point. I'm just saying that I don't think people give it all that much thought, most of the time.

This conversation has occurred about a bazillion times. IIRC: They don't know, exactly.

You will have 3 Rep points taken away for bringing up the topic of Rep points.
