Rep Power - how does it work? Is it WERKing

Credit given where credit due.

There are so many excellent contributors on Sailnet. They take their time to answer my questions and others. Often patiently teach me many things. Perhaps, one day this knowledge will save my life. Since it is impractical to take them out to lunch or dinner, therefore the next best thing I think is to recognize their contribution thru Rep Power.

I have done a few in the past, but somehow their rating remains the same.

Is this thing working, or I may not do it correctly???

I think it's mystical and mysterious. We're not supposed to look behind the curtain. Sort of like predicting the weather and wind..

So you're probably doing it right, but no way to tell. It's better that way...;-)

Appears to be. Mine recently went from 5 to 6.

My thanks to whomever added to my rep, and you're welcome for whatever it was I did to deserve it

While that's a factor, every time you get an 'attaboy' your 'point' score goes up a bit. Your rep steps up every 'so many points'. So adding to someone's rep won't necessarily boost his/her rep power immediately, but if enough users add their bit then when the points pass a threshold the displayed rep power is incremented...

As I understand it, anyhow....

So If I buy you a beer and order a couple Catalina 445 and pay cash, would my rep power goes up a bit faster?

While we are at this, could someone explain the green squares too? Are they related to number of posts?

I think it's related to how many of your posts in the Politics forum are "Rep" vs. "Dem".
