ID the boat challenge.

What kind of boat is this? It looks like it is steel and by chance there is a smaller version of it in the next bay. I think both are Canadian registered so maybe a Canadian company.

nolatom will become famous soon enough
It's steel? From the photo I'd have guessed that some very tall person took an old 1980s IOR-type hull , took the deck off, and home-built everything above the original rail and forward of the original stem.

Now they have standing headroom for an NBA team, and an odd-looking boat.

I know, this was not a useful answer. Sorry.

I showed it to my wife. She wants to know if that is a gun turret on the cabin.

No gun turret I might swing by today and have a closer look. The smaller one in steel for sure and looks even odder as it sits very high on the water. It is also a ketch rig. I must remember my camera next time I dinghy round there.

I imagine it's what would come if an ant eater mated with a rhino.

A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not why ships are built.

Here is it's little sister but who designed and built such an odd looking family of boats.

I'm with Mike on this one, ugly, but from the solar and wind equipment would say it is set up for living off the hook. Should have LOTS of headroom.
