In search of Racing Awards

Hello -

Looking for some suggestions for awards for a racing program. We're a non-profit organization so we need to keep the costs down (as in real cheap!).

So who has a great idea of an award we can make or buy? Or do you know of a place that sells sailing awards/trophies?

I'm open to all suggestions - and thanks!

Rannel

blt2ski will become famous soon enough
The question becomes, "what is cheap?" Some clubs, most if not all are non profit mind you, $20 for an award is too much. Other scoff if you do not spend at least $200.

With that options.
Try an local glass shop/engraver. National Etching is one. Altho probably not local for you, they have a website and ship across the nation.Mine and a few other local clubs use them for awards. We get pint beer cups for about $12-13 IIRC. Cup is about $6, engraving about $5. Eric or Dave is who you want to talk to. national etching dot com is the website, at "info at" for email
Sponsors if a bigger race may help cover some of the costs.
If it is for annual within the club. My club gets a vase for folks, then use it for 4 yrs/seasons worth of places etc with in the club. So in our case, the $30-40 vase is engraved yearly for about $5-10 along with the initial year purchase.
One club does hats with placing on them. About $15 per hat.

A donation to your NFP in the winners name would be VERY cheap!

Before college, I worked in an awards/trophies/promotion shop.

*cracks knuckles*

You can get little 5x7 plaques for $10 each or even less. Or little dinky trophies for $4-5 each. Depending on how many you buy, you can get bulk pricing at most places. You just have to ask.

Talk to these people and see what they can do for you.

These would be cheap awards which will be nice for 5 minutes and then they might end up in a box in the attic and start to peel or fade or melt (if you live somewhere hot anyway). Real wood ones would last but they're more expensive.
Gift certificates to somewhere are much better IMO. You might talk to some stores and see if they're willing to donate a small award in exchange for the advertisement. Go in person though because it's much easier to turn down people over the phone.

A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not why ships are built.
