Thumbs up First Time Sail

Sunday I took my 17-year-old niece for her first-ever sail with my girlfriend & one of her friends. I wish I'd taken a camera to get a picture of her face when we got the sails up & turned off the engine. You know that smile that turns into that huge happy grin? I'd love to have a picture of that.

She did well, & due to us being a tad short-handed, she got to actually do stuff, like help raise the main & jib, & help tack, as well as help us to cast off & bring the boat in. While at the dock, I had her hank on the jib & a few other things. It's always good to let them get first-hand knowledge of what happens on a boat.

After it was all done & we were heading back to her place, I asked her how she liked it & what she would tell her parents. Her reply was, "Buy me a boat!"

I always liked that kid. She has true potential.
