I looked at several a few years ago and concluded that for coastal/daysailing, there really isn't a much better "value boat" available in that size range. I seem to recall the chainplates needing an upgrade/better bedding, per the C27 forums. If the condition and price are right, I think you'll have a good boat for your intended purpose. With the number of C27's out there and the number of owners past and present, you should have lots of selection and support.

I sail my 27 in the San Juan islands area and Puget Sound. Really like the boat. Sails easily and has adequate room below. Mine is 1975 vintage. I sail a 20ft Windrose on the great lakes. the 27 IMHO would be a really nice boat for the lakes.

Wow, I have to say those are some of the most positive things said about any brand/size of boat brought up here. That alone is pretty telling.
