I am looking at buying a 2001 Catalina 31 located in Havre de Grace, MD.

Can anyone recommend a good surveyor.

Thanks,

Boat US

Find one on the Boat/US website...or the directory pre-approved by your intended insurance company:

Look up Jack Horner. He writes for BoatUS.

Congrats and good luck with your purchase

Jack Horner is listed with Boat US for the northern chesapeake, I've read many of his boat reviews. I Like his style
Dave Manning is also listed, he did the survey on my boat, I'd use him again.

We used Steven Uhthoff in Annapolis last year. He showed up with a significant case of the flu and didn't break his stride all day. He worked like a dog and found some obvious problems with the boat in question, and some very subtle problems that would have been expensive. I'm sure there are surveyors as good as he is but I doubt you could find someone who will do a better job.

Good luck,
Chris

I second David Manning...have used him twice. Hes very thorough,,,up the mast,,,in every nook and cranny ( he small ( 4'11). He is really a buyers friend and is honest

Joe White he can be reached at Pleasure Cove Marina. He's my Brother and is very thorough. His concern lies with the buyer and the safety of the boat and is very meticulous. If you have a contact number I could have him give you a call.

FYI - I used Buddy Williams of Williams Marine Survey and was very impressed with the level of service he provided. He spent the entire day with us and he took the time to educate me on all of the systems on this boat.

I highly recommend him if you are in need of a survey.

Thansk,
Matt

I can only second some of the names already here.

I tried to use Jack Horner but there was a schedule conflict, so I asked for recommendations. He said David Manning or Steven Uhthoff.

I used David Manning and was well please with the service I recieved. Based on the previous comments it seems you can't go wrong with any of these 3.
