I''ll agree with your First Mate and try to discourage you. Full-keel boats generally have an aperture in front of the rudder. Will you have to cut out the keel for the prop? Then you will have to drill a very long hole from the aperture at the correct angle in
line with the transmission. But how will you know until the engine/tranny dimensions and mounting location is determined? Now you have to design in a stuffing box on one end and a way to mount a cutlass bearing on the other. This does not begin to address issues of batteries,
fuel systems, and wiring. And you have just weighed down a good sailboat and lost a bunch of storage. Trade the boat, don''t ruin it.
