Typically, the ocean temperatures at this time of year around here are 6-7C, about 40F.
You would not last long.

Around 47F Mike. I was thinking about sudden cardiac arrest too, even in the summer on a hot day it's enough to take your breath away.

Deus- very sorry for your loss and the ordeal at the marina yesterday, thank you for the first hand report. I've talked to several of the full time island residents (there are only about 15 of us) and everyone is very saddened by this tragic accident.

Sorry to hear about this tragedy. Your are right and I second, it is very easy to get comfortable at a dock. It's all ashame since not many people will be wearing a life jacket at a dock. I don't, nor does anyone else that comes with me since most of my life jackets are onboard. Prayers go out to all involved in this incident.

Hello all,

Would anyone who was at the race and/or knew Don be willing to talk with me for a story? We posted a story this afternoon on Three Sheets Northwest (Pacific Northwest Boating News, Community & Resources | Three Sheets Northwest), but I haven't been able to reach anyone directly connected with the race.

If anyone here is willing to speak with me, please email me at deborah@threesheetsnw.com or call me at 206.349.2832.

Sad story, condolences to you, Deus, and the rest of the crew, and of course the family too.

Just heard this news....so heartbreaking. My thoughts go out to his family.

Don plugged me into the Bellingham racing community when I moved to the area. RIP Don
