Chickamauga Lake - Advice Needed

Is anyone familiar with the Chicamauga Lake near Chattanooga TN?

I am considering moving to the area and have a Hunter 285 that I would relocate from Lake Norman NC.

I am not familiar with Chickamauga lake. Does anyone know if there is a steady current? What is the typical depth of the lake?

Is there an active racing crowd?

Can anyone recommend a good marina on the lake?

Thanks for your help!

I grew up in that area. There is definitely active racing. I believe there is a 35' maximum boat length set for the area.

Something to note is you can reach Chicamauga Lake via the Tenn-Tom waterway. I still have family in the area and would love to visit there by boat instead of the dreaded Interstate hwy.

hi,welcome to e-tn.i keep my boat on watts bar lake[the next lake above,i find chic.lake to be a bit narrower with fewer open area's to sail, watts bar is a little better and has lots more little coves to anchor for overnight or a week or two but really none on the upper tenn.lakes are ideal for sailing, nickajack lake just below is even worse, the current flow depends on when and how much water is being let thru the dams again because of the greater area of impoundment watts bar's current is almost unnoticeable, both chic.and nickajacks can be quite more at times depending on the width of the channel,i seldom even bother to put up my sails because of the lack of consistant wind no doubt, racing would be challenging but its a beautiful area either lake, after labor day theres very little boat activity on any upper lakes, one more point, marina's are few so finding a slip can be difficult, pls email me if you choose to bring your boat to this area or want/need more info
