Fan in a Sailboat on Mythbusters...

Mythbusters are testing the fan in a sailboat theory...any bets?

I'm thinking they will test it wrong. They are going to put the fan blowing on a run. They should have it blowing on a reach canceling Newtons third law and using the sails to their aero advantage.

I believe that episode was aired earlier this year and you're likely watching a re-run. You may not want to accept any bets that are proffered.

Yeah, they made it work on a run...nearly hit hull speed too...3mph in a ~14-16' boat. I still think it would work better on a reach using the lift produced through the slot by a modern Bermuda Rig.

And they get PAID to do that stuff. I just get in trouble when I do it.
