blt2ski will become famous soon enough
Congrats,

I would also swag based on pics, the trailer has surge brakes?!?!?! if so, you would not want the sway or WD bars hooked up, as they will in "most" ie 90+% of the time, not allow the brakes to works.

here I was thinking based on the title of the thread, you literally bought a butterfly style sailboat. The O"day is a bit bigger than what I thought you bought!

''So I really started looking over the boat, something I should have done days before in Michigan but, I was foolish and took the seller at his word on some things and let my head get caught up in getting a boat and wanting to get on the road. Needless to say she is not as dry as the seller led me to believe. I have work to do in the spring that I did not want to do or thought I would have to do on the boat. Very disappointing. In myself especially for not taking the time and letting other things get in my way. I am also very disappointed in the seller as well. If he would have been completely honest with me, I doubt I would have even made the trip. "

No need to be disappointed in the seller he did you a favor. You wanted a boat and now you have a boat. If he rambled on about what was wrong with the boat you wouldn't have a boat.
If you really didn't want any work you would have looked more carefully. You were sick of looking, the heart wants what the heart wants.

Amen.
The upside: you have a boat.
The downside: you have a boat.
The upside: you have some work, which allows you to make her yours.

Look at the upside, or take up golf. Once you get rolling on boat projects you will be surprised at how cathartic it is.

Congrats and welcome to the club!

Don't beat yourself up over anything. You got a boat now! You can quit looking, dreaming, planning....and now start living it. Now the fun starts. You get to make her your own. You get to fix what you need to fix, explore every inch of her and get to know her inside and out. All problems can be fixed with enough effort and dedication. Besides, it's this work, sweat, tears, busted knuckles, elation from success, anticipation for the first sail, buying and installing upgrades and goodies....all of this makes her uniquely yours.

You got a boat! Next summer will be so different from last summer.....and the summers to come!

Congrats on the boat!

I have a similar story, very similar!

In October I brought a 1976 O'Day 25 from Escondido California all the way up to Edmonton Canada. 3600 mile round trip. And my Ford seemed tiny in comparison too!

And you're right, it's going to be a long winter!

Thanks everybody! I am pretty stoked about it and I am thinking I will be able to make her mine with the work I do have to do. I added a pic of our route and trip stats today. Cripes 1445 miles round trip. My vehicle got a whopping 9.8 MPG towing her back. I plan on getting her main issues resolved in the spring and yes, sailing the heck out of her. That mind set of everything happens for a reason is telling me I get to be the guy the gets her back to her original glory.

Congratulations. Nice boat. Interested in hearing what you have to do on her.
