what are some good items to have on a sailboat?

I've been reading many sailing stories and there seems to be a constant occurrence of little problems that always happens. I was wondering what would be a good list of things to have (other than whats needed to sail) in case these things happen?

let me start off with what i can pull off the top of my head.

1) ropes (always good to have. good for many repairs and much more.)

2) tools (in case something comes loose -- if anyone has any specific tools to list, please do so)

3) dhingy.

4) distress beacon.

5) extra bolts and screws of many sizes for general purpose fixing.

The boat tools topic has been covered. I can't imagine the basic tools have changed much.

You could be right. Of Business' 18 posts to date, 8 were starting new threads. Those range from having no sailing experience, to living aboard, to sailing a 27 footer to Hawaii and fishing for a living from a sailboat. Fairly far afield and somewhat beyond rational.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.
