Sailing to Bangkok

Hello sailors,
I am planning to sail in may from SF to Bangkok. Need someplace to land and stay in Bangkok for a few months. I'm looking for a marina, if any exist, a safe place to keep the boat on the hard, a good anchorage, or a good place to tie up - up the river from bangkok. Must be cheaper than the average American marina monthly as i'll probably be living a Thai salary for a while. Any help, and experience you can share is greatly appreciated. Cheers,
Axel

PS. No i don't particularly want to go to Phuket if i can help it, it's too far on a schedule
PPS. No the Pattaya marina is not within my budget.

This is pretty far from BKK, but it's closer than sailing around to Phuket.

I'm sure you could get hauled out on Koh Samui, but it's probably not going to be cheap.

Thanks, i'll give that a shot, any other tips/options?

Thanks, i'll give that a shot, I'm contacting those people to see if this is an option for me. Any other tips/options, i'd rather have too many options than not enough...

Up the river? Do you mean Buri Ram or Ayutthaya? Those places are up river from BKK. Perhaps, as you mentioned Pattaya you mean down river from BKK though Pattaya isn't on the river.

If the latter is the case you might try Sriracha which has a marina but I have no information. There are several fishing fleet piers in this area as well that you may be able to work something out with.

If you intend to use local electricity be aware that its 220/50.

Bkk

There is a new condo just south of the Sathorn bridge on the river that is supposed to have docks as well.

A link that may be helpful to find more info:

Rob, i won't be leaving California until at least May so that beer will have to wait, although i'll probably be in Thailand at least a year, so raincheck.

I am really looking for something in or near Bangkok, even along the Chao Phraya that runs through Bangkok. I'll consider something further up the river, but i am mindful of shallow waters outside the rainy season if one goes too far up. Pattaya is too expensive, although i'd consider it if i found something close that's cheaper than the royal marina there. I'll be staying in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. I don't think i can sail that far up, the waterways are just too shallow that far north outside the monsoon; but i could easily travel between Chiang Mai and Bangkok on a regular basis. A tie-up or spot on the hard would be good. Thanks for all your suggestions, keep 'em coming...
