Asym. spinnaker measurement help needed

So the question is; how long should the luff be on an asymetrical spinnaker if my present genoa luff is 49'? Looking for a downwind solution but don't know nuttin' bout no spinnakers. Thanks!

Suggest you go to FX sails site and fill out the estimate form for your boat.. I think you'll end up with sail dimensions from that.

If you measure off your genoa, you will end up with a cruising spinnaker...better than a white sail but not a whole lot better. Its primarily a question of sail area. If you want some performance, you should consider a symmetric, or an asymmetric with a bow sprite, both would offer the large sail area needed to make off wind sail as much fun as upwind sailing. A asym is easier to handle.

You want it longer. Probably (guessing here) 51-54'. The luff of a jib is almost a straight line. The luff of a chute is going to have a pretty big curve in it.
