Brewer's Yacht Haven West Demolished

It's official!

Brewer's Yacht Haven West in Stamford, CT is all gone....its buildings have been demolished.

Quote:
Building and Land Technology, which owns the 14-acre boatyard that had sat at the tip of the South End, near Dyke Lane and Bateman Way, received a demolition permit on December 14 and another on December 27, to raze a total of 14 building structures on the site, according to the cityís buildings department.

Not in Stamford, Conn, smack in the middle of the Gold Coast. Waterfront property there is very valuable. If the area has sewer connections, my guess is condos.

Connecticut has a coastal zone management plan that gives preference to "water dependent" uses of property within that zone. The policy also seeks to improve access to the water for recreational uses. It wouldn't surprise me if the condo development had some dock space to take advantage of those state policies. However, even if the condos don't include dockage or other "water dependent uses", it doesn't mean that they can't be permitted under state law.

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.
