Ft. Myers beach marinas?

Gang,

I'm thinking about bringing my cal 27 down from st. Petersburg to Ft. Myers Beach or Sanibel area for March and April. My folks are going to be RV-ing there and I'd like to take them out for some daysails.

Anybody have any recommendations for a convenient marina with nice facilities where I can get out on the water easily?


I'll probably spend a couple of weekends there too.

Yeah I checked there and also read my guidebook. Was hoping for a local opinion. There weren't many reviews on active captain.

Marinatown is up river at the US 41 bridge on the n.w. corner. Good marina, good restuarants, easy to get into and a short sail to the gulf. If the wind gets ugly it is a nice cozy place to sit it out.

That looks like a nice facilty, however I'd like to stay closer to the beach if possible. I know there is a mooring field at Ft. Myers Beach, but a dock would be ideal.

Sorry that I can not be of more help. I have an aversion to crowds and tricky channels with shoaling and underwater obstacles (Sanibel Marina). I usually stay away from Ft. Myers Beach for just those reasons. The sail down river to the gulf is, to me, a much better alternative.
