Morgan 382, 3, 4 vs Tartan 37

I am interested in between 36 and 38 foot. The Tarten 37 and the Morgan 382, 3, 4 have caught my interest. I am presently on the great lakes but want to migrate to south Florida and or Keys eventually. I am thinking 5' draft max. I want to coastal cruise with extended living aboard for 2 and occassional overnight guest couple. I am not a competetive racer but want to get from point a to b in a reasonable amount of time. My prior sailing experience was 5 years aboard a Morgan 34 on the south Texas Gulf coast. My only complaint, it was a little heavy on the helm.

These 2 seem fairly similar in price range and vintage. Which would best serve my needs, retain value and less likely to break the bank with repairs.

sailingfool will become famous soon enough
Any of these vessels will be entering their third life, so anyone would be likely to expose you to similar cost senarios.

What the current owner has done to maintain and upgrade the boat, is king and should drive any decision. Look for the boat where a lot of work has been done, pay a premium for the benefit of the current owner's investments, and you are most likely minimize the expensive surprises.

The Tartan 37 is a particularly nice boat, in my opinion a cut about the Morgans, but gain, look for the package...

There are also C&C Landfall 38(s), similar to a Morgan 382.

Apples and Oranges. In that era C&C were of a high build quality similar to the 37 Tartan.
