Melbournian has a new boat!

Knowing she'd probably never tell you herself..

Announcement: Following in the fine old nautical tradition of "the boat you really want is 6' longer than the one you have", Melbournian (and hubby Chris) are now the proud owners of a 42' Catalina Mark II, 2005 model, having sold the old one a while back.

It was launched on Sunday following the long ride from the USA and I called in to see them yesterday. The mast goes in this week. It looks brand new both above and below decks and (for a plastic boat) is an absolute beauty!

Congratulations to you both!!

Goodo and well done Melbournian. With the Oz Buckazoid now seemingly worth more than a Dead President for the foreseeable future, we'll be seeing a lot more of this.

Hey Fast ..... have you seen the new Hallberg Rassey 48'er ? mmmmmm .....

What????? 7-foot-itis already??? Poor St Malo is going to get a complex!

Nice shots, Melbournian.. We fret around here about trucking a boat a couple of thousand miles.. must seem trivial to you!

It was a breeze when we shipped Mizan about 3yrs ago.
We were lucky as we got a good shipping agent and she came
with her mast up. This time around, we got a shipping agent who
promise alot but just couldn't deliver as he didn't have any idea.
We had to organize everything from here and you can imagine
the time difference and the cost of phonecalls!
And with mast down, cost of trucking the mast and having to step the
mast was alot of work. Also we had missing bolts which the person who
took it apart misplaced or dropped. So no more !! I am just so glad to have
her here. Took her out for a sail from melbourne to her pen in Geelong.
We had rain, strong winds over 30knots and the darn wind going in the wrong
direction... naturally . But she did so well .
So yes we are very very happy to have her.
course,

Just got back from New Zealand (sailing of course) and I'm glad you got down to Geelong safely. Having been aboard, I'm sure she's more than capable of handling anything the bay can dish up.

You're not going to tell everyone about the mast delivery driver's exploits? I saw the steel bollards he ripped out of the Williamstown pavement.. What a goon.
