Question Chartering in Tahiti-

I'm researching a sailing charter to Tahiti next year for 8 people. I've been to both Moorings and Sunsail sites looking at boats and costs. I have a request out to Tahiti Yacht Charters for a quote as well. Has anyone dealt with Dream Yacht Charters? Their prices seem too good to be true, and after a 'deal' charter in Greece a couple of years ago I'm a bit leery of Charter Companies outside of mainstream without input or recommendations from other sailors.

The Sunsail 434 cat seems to fit the bill, but I wonder about the two single bow cabins? Would an adult fit in this space or would it be like sleeping in a MRI tube!

Any input appreciated.

Re: Chartering in Tahiti-

Sunsail was OK in Tonga. Good service, no surprises.

Does vacation insurance exist?

Does anyone have any ballpark estimates on provisioning costs for a crew of 8?

Can't give you specific dollar amounts, but we found the hypermarche in Tahiti, near the marina, to be very expensive, say 150 - 200% of North American. On the flip side, it was the most incredible supermarket I have ever seen. Take an immense French supermarket and drop it in the middle of a tropical ocean and you get the idea. The market in downtown Papeete was also very good. Baguettes are cheap though.

Finished the circumnavigation in early February in Grenada. Have to work on a book project for the next several months so the boat will be waiting for next year.
