Latest on L&A
2012 has marked many changes here at Latitudes & Attitudes. All of them good! On January 13 Sextant Publishing, Inc. officially became the new owners. Our venerable founder, Bob Bitchin, will stay on as "Publisher Emeritus" with virtually the entire staff remaining unchanged. New President/CEO DJ Doran is in it "for the long haul", and is committed to taking Lats & Atts to the next level.

One of the first positive moves was the return to 12 monthly issues per year. Other business level decisions and improvements have made the entire company stronger and better positioned for growth and expansion.

But the cherry on top was the company's decision to buy back the Lost Soul! That's right, Bob and Jody will once again be able to sail the famous Formosa 56 and write, blog, and post videos on their new adventures. The iconic vessel will be a floating goodwill ambassador for Latitudes & Attitudes, and will make port in many of the major sailboat shows on both coasts. She will make her debut at the Strictly Sail Boat Show in Oakland April 12th through the 15th and it will be your first chance to see the boat that launched the magazine and TV show live and up close.

no thoughts on how the last 8-10 months have irritated many of us supporters...?? And just what has changed now, that was not done last year...??

Lost Soul is in my marina now. It'll be cool to see her back in action promoting the cruising lifestyle.

Good; missed those few clothing-optional pictures that made it past the censors.

When one considers the sea-side scenery along the northern side of the Med, in the French Caribbean and Polynesia, and what get displayed in French urban parks and European general-circulation magazines, the flinching reaction of Americans to feminine chest ornaments bespeaks some kind of PC psychosis.

Back in the Eighties and into the Nineties, away from the built-up areas of North America, seeing some cutie (or not-so-cutie) holding a tiller or lunching in a cockpit while wearing only a monokini was not unusual. Nowadays everything's pay-per-view, eh?

L&A is dead. They started a new magazine, Cruising Outpost. The first issue should be out any day. Here is their website > Cruising Outpost

We will see how it goes.

Short version is the company was sold but not paid in full. New owners ran it in to ground, fired everyone and padlocked the doors. Cruising Outpost is a lot of the same people from the original Lats & Atts. Also, you should be able to get your copy of Cruising Outpost at your local West Marine.
