I was dropping the mast and the forestay where the cable goes into the tbar got bent.
I wondered if it's possible to pull the tbar off, trim off that damaged section of the cable, and reattach the tbar?
Those connections are generally swaged on and are not removable.. and if you cut it off, cleaned up the cable and reattached a (new) fitting, you'd be several inches shorter and probably won't have the room in the turnbuckle to make up the difference... If the cable kink is serious it looks like you're getting a new stay.
None of the wires broke, but when it kinked, they separated. Once straightened, it looks normal but I'd imagine it's not as strong as it once was.
I don't know much about what abuse they can take but afaik, they don't like to be bent.
I'd be worried about it if I didn't repair/replace it.
If the wire is new enough, you might want to consider using a mechanical fitting.
I believe that these are long enough to make up for the wire lost in the swage fitting. If not, you can add an eye-jaw toggle under the turnbuckle to make up the difference.
