Help, My brother and I just purchased a 1981 Catalina 30 and would like to know who's pedestal is mounted on the boat.

Re: Help on Pedestal manufacturer

Try contacting Catalina directly, give them your HIN and they should be able to tell you what was on the boat originally, at least, (likely still the same one)

The HIN should be imprinted on the transom, upper starboard corner somewhere.

That is a Merriman/Yacht Specialties pedestal and they went out of business in about 1989... Parts are used, and SCARCE.

I am currently replacing a customers Yacht Specialties pedestal with an Edson and it runs about 2k, minimum, just for the parts. On the later YS pedestals they used 6.5" hole centers for the base and Edson uses 6". Yours looks like an early YS and probably has 6" hole centers making an Edson conversion easier.

Here's an older YS pedestal for you..

Edsons were used on most boats of that time.
