Sounds like fun... too bad I'm stuck on Lake Michigan. BTW, I don't want to see all of you guys setting your GPS for the same location, and ending in a big pile-up.

Brad would still interested, probably as crew for you if berth available.

"How about a location 24 hrs ENE of Cape May and 24 hrs SSW of Montauk?"
A rendezvous between Cape May and Montauk could put one
in the middle of the New York approaches...there is a whole lot
of very large traffic out there.

Good idea Ulladh.

Keeping Hugo's observation in mind, we'd need perfect visibility when we are in approaches.

This sounds great, and I will try to participate. I am in far Western LIS, so the destination Ulladh proposed (which is about 24 hours SE of NYC) would make it possible for me to join by way of NY harbor if the timing works out.

The proposed location roughly 100 nm from Montauk and Cape May will be well within the area of commercial shipping that extends more than 100 nm off the east coast between Long Island and Cape Hatteras.

The location is also west of the offshore canyons popular with both recreational and commercial fishing boats.

So many reasons to keep a good watch.

I thought about doing that also. So of course I think it is a good idea. I live in MA and would be available to crew.

Sounds like a fun get together. I can see the coast guard and boarder protection scratching their heads wondering why all these boats from differing parts are heading to THE SAME LAT AND LONG out in the middle of nowhere.

It's the great "crabs for lobsters" swap. MD sailors bring crabs, New England sailors bring lobsters. NY-based sailors bring bagels. Philly -- cheesesteaks. You get the idea.
