Defender Warehouse Sale

I moseyed on over to the Defender Warehouse sale yesterday. I haven't been for a few years, and I had forgotten what a madhouse it can be. But well worth it. Some great prices (generally, at least 10% off of their already low prices, sometimes a lot more).

Picked up some bottom paint, replacement flares, electric connection hardware and other goodies. They were out of pfd replacement bobbins, but the manufacturer's rep gave me some good advice about using some old ones that had been sealed up in my basement. Also had a chance to speak with an Interlux rep about an old can of Cetol, and an electronics expert about my vhf antenna. That's what makes the sale special: manufacturer's reps galore. Better than a boat show because they are there to sell stuff, and give real "retail" advice. A good time despite the really crappy weather.

Re: Defender Warehouse Sale

Was there myself yesterday morning to off load a couple boat units. Good way to spend a rainy morning. It was very busy.

Re: Defender Warehouse Sale

Yes, the sale applies on-line; I ordered a bunch of stuff off the defender.com website and got 10% off. Occasionally other places have some things cheaper anyway but by and large Defender does very well for me. The one thing about the sale is that it does somewhat delay their shipping schedule.

was there Friday ... a madhouse then too but worth it! I got a new dinghy, a couple gallons of bottom paint and miscellaneous stuff to the tune of a boat buck ... good to go for another year!

I was a little surprised to see lots of NY, NJ and Mass license plates; I guess I'm lucky in that I live only about an hour away, so even if the deals on the stuff I bought were somewhat swallowed up by $4/gallon gas, I can still justify the trip on cost. But I bet a lot of the customers go because of the entertainment/excitement factor. It's finally spring! And I get to think about/talk about/buy stuff for my boat again!

Yeah, its worth it, no matter why you went.
