1:1 Keelboat Tuition wanted NJ Area

Good Morning,

I took some dinghy lessons in the UK a few years ago but for one reason and another I was unable to pursue my interest, I loved it.

I want to find some 1:1 Keelboat lessons to get me started and build my confidence, I'm not sure when the season starts but would like to strike while the iron is hot, PM me if you prefer. I am on a longterm assigment with work from the UK.

Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated,

Crummles

Not sure about NJ, but there are sailing schools out of Port Washington and City Island in western Long Island Sound.

Where in NJ are you. ? What body of water is closest? Hudson River, Delaware, Barnegat Bay, Raritan Bay ? There are a number of sailing schools in NJ and NY It would help to know where you are located to be able to point you to the closest school and service available to you.

Hi Tempest,

I am in Hillsdale, I think the nearest would be the Hudson.

The Nyack Boat Club is not that far from you. Racing season is coming up starting in May. You could learn a lot crewing on a racing keel boat.
Wednesday night races there start at 6:30 so you'd have to show up around 5 pm to find a boat that needs crew. They also race various fleets of dinghy sailors.
