45 minutes north of Pittsburgh isMoraine state Park with Lake Arthur a pretty good size lake for sailboats with a 10 hp max.And many other lakes in the region are used by the sailboat community.
There is a sailboat club at Moraine.

Great sailing at Pymatuming Lake which is half in Ohio and half in PA. Also, your close to Lake Erie.

I''m looking for ground transportation for several masts from Tonawanda, NY to Troy, NY next August (2001) when we (and possibly three other sailboats) go South from Georgian Bay to Florida waters. Does anyone know of trucking companies that transport masts in that area?

Pittsburgh sailing

I grew up in Pittsburgh and learned to sail on the Allegheny River. There were a number of sailing clubs and yacht clubs near Verona and Oakmont if I recall (it''s been 30+ years ago). This area is better suited for small daysailers v larger boats. I learned on a snipe. Happy sailing.

I grew up in Pittsburgh too....as I recall in those days the river was dirty enough to walk on let alone sail!

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Sounds pretty scenic to sail on the three rivers. Is it common?
