Passing of a Boat Dog.

One of the joys of SailNet in recent times has been the ongoing tale of the Dock Six Chronicles from our old friend Jones.

For the Fuzzy one that meant a bit more cos I confess that I somewhat fell for Jones' old mutt aka The Wookie. Well I'm extremely sorry to say that Jones informed me this morning that the great beast passed on last evening and I for one am reduced to a teary mess, how the Jones' themselves are I hate to think. Never met The Wookie, only knew her through pics and her occasional role on Dock Six but that dog had a great face. A face of a seriously good dog. A dog I really do wish I'd had the pleasure of a scratch of the belly and behind the ears. A dog that I just found out was a her not a him and her name was Inky.

Huzza and farewell yon Wookie.

Group hug for the Jones clan.

Re: Passing of a Boat Dog.

The only thing more sad would be if Inky outlived the Jones's.
She was lucky to have them and they were lucky to have her.

Re: Passing of a Boat Dog.

Fuzzy. thanks.... and a Fred tune to accompany the eulogy, no less! THAT is most excellent.

See, Fred Eaglesmith has a special connection to the Dock. He is a local, and his old boat is permanently moored right across from the Dock.
Here's Fred's boat at sunset:

Thanks.

Re: Passing of a Boat Dog.

Fuzzy, was that a lucky find or do/did you know of Fred Eaglesmith? He's been a fixture at one of the summer festivals we hit every August.

Interesting music, and pretty good standup too - his live shows are a treat.

Sorry again for your loss, Brian.

My pleasure Jones ... I like Fred, he's good value but what is that thing you called a boat ?

Sorry again for your loss, Brian.

I've got pretty much everything he's ever recorded and go see him whenever he visits Oz. Not only a fabulous singer songwriter but as you say a real comedian on stage. We actually had a really good chat one evening cos I told him how much I liked his album 'Dusty' which apparently is not liked by the Fred crowd so he was pretty chuffed to find someone in Sydney of all places that loved the thing.

One of my favourite marine based songs ....

You guys need to hang out on the song chain thread a bit more often ....
