OUPV (6-pack) Captainís Lic

Anyone getting their license recently or remember the details.

Have a question for the 360 daysí experience.

It says:
============
Of the 360 total days:
90 days must be within the last 3 years

90 days must be on Great Lakes only if you want to obtain a Great Lakes Routing on your license

90 days must be on Near Coastal waters to obtain a Near Coastal Routing
============
How do you document the days of service, especially some of the sailing days were before I intended to get the license. Do I need to declare my intention to get the six-pack and counting forward. i read it somewhere that they count everything since your age 15 or older.

What actual documentation they accept? Ship's log book, captain log's or just an honor system?

I'm taking a course as we speak for the same thing. Here's what the program I'm enrolled in has to say about documenting sea time. It sounds simple enough:

Dawg,

The video says it all. You could probably document and sign for the time you served on the vessels that you chartered, as long as you had receipts for the charter.

For all the time served on other peoples boats..you're going to have to track the skipper down and get them to sign off on your sheets. Use a different sheet for every vessel.

You should also differentiate the time served inland of the boundary line and time served seaward of the boundary line. Note, that the boundary line is not...the colregs line. To obtain the boundary line you need to go to 46 CFR part 7

Time served beyond the boundary line will make the difference on whether you obtain an inland license or a near coastal endorsement to the OUPV.
