Re: Shoestring Hunter Adventure

We were going to do the trip to Beaufort and back anyway. This way is actually shorter. She's paying for all repairs, gas, etc.

The float plan is filed and we are loading the boat. Should be leaving within the next two hours. Thanks for all the comments and expect lots of pictures in about 1 week.

Nice. Working with fiberglass and epoxy everyday now so I have to sail vicariously through others.

UPDATE: Currently in River Dunes Marina. So far an amazing trip. Lots of pictures and videos that will be uploaded when returning home. We will be crossing Pamlico Sound tomorrow. We have made excellent time avg 5 kts. So far (knock on wood) have not hit any storms. Got close this morning around 6:30 am, but it blew past while we were anchored. We have met many great and helpful people and have amazing stories to tell. So freaking worth it!!!!!

They have some nice showers..... Stayed there one night in my little 24' boat. I was the smallest one there. They kept an eye on us, Little out of my league. Some really nice boats there.... Live it up guys.... Go jump in the pool.

Ha ha ha, She has footed a large portion of the bill thus far and is also paying for gas... We look at it as an opportunity to get in a nice trip hopefully with minimal risk

We know the feeling... Coming into the marina we stuck out like a sore thumb. Also the smallest one here. Enjoying the showers and getting ready to head out.

Re: Shoestring Hunter Adventure

I sailed along side a Hunter 25 from key West to Mexico, after 3 1/2 day's on one tack, his rudder post had a bend in it and he couldn't turn when he got to the entrance bouy. The rudder post is hollow, more of a pipe. We pulled it, leverd it straight and filled it with a wooden dowel and 5200, suggest doing this to all hunter 25's before they bend.

Re: Shoestring Hunter Adventure

Made it into Washington at 5:00 PM today. Sailed dead downwind for about 6 hours to outrun a storm. Didn't know a Hunter 25 could average 6.5 knots against the current! Pictures and videos to come. Amazing trip, amazing places, amazing people. Nothing else to say, will let the pictures and videos speak for themselves.
