As a former owner of a Hunter 25 I can attest to the effects of a hollow rudder post. Twas the draw bridge before Fort Pierce heading south on the ICW when me Hunter developed super power steering, that is, a fly could have pushed the tiller around. Looking aft, there was my rudder floating freely. Retrieved the rudder, a trip to the Don's salvage in Melbourne I procured a stainless steel tube that slide inside the existing post. Welded and thru bolted the new tube allowed me to continue the journey. The post broke right where the tube entered the rudder.
