Looking for documentation - Jester 12

Was looking for a small boat to introduce the grand kids to sailing and think we found the near perfect boat (this is an old ad)

Jester 12' 1976, Cleveland, Ohio sailboat for sale

The manufacturer is defunct and PI (pre internet.) The only info I can find is three previous internet sales and one owner who has since sold his boat.

By chance, if anyone has any possible connection for literatrure for this boat - it would be greatly appreciated if you could share the source.

Re: Looking for documentation - Jester 12

Hi- no documentation, but have one that I used to sail.
(Currently sitting in my dad's yard for the better part of a decade).
Had the same amount of luck as you with finding out anything about the boat.
OK...so.
Good boat for intro to sailing a sloop rig.
The gear seemed properly sized and good quality.
Pretty quick little boat; will plane if you have enough weight on the rail.

Can be capsized if you try hard enough. I did so on a few occasions and was able to right, bail, and get back to sailing.
You may want to add some extra flotation to make that exercise easier.

Mine does not have a kick-up rudder; I'd recommend one.
The soft bilges result in less initial stability, but she firms up nicely once under way.

Just about an hour ago, my neighbor across the street agreed to buy mine. He's looking for the same thing you are- intor the kids to sailing, putter about on a lake and on Hudson River. He'll have to keep an eye on conditions on the Hudson, but this is the right boat for that job.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the kind reply. I know of three Jester 12s that have sold in Cleveland in the last couple of years. We acquired ours in State College . . . so you are the most eastern sighting. Indeed, the Hudson could be ambitious.
