Thanks for the link Roger. Like many, I remember where I was when the PoB went down...in my case, at sea, a couple of hundred miles away, in a Holman & Pye Oyster 48. We didn't think the weather was bad and we were wondering about the USCG request on the radio to "be on the lookout for victims of the sinking". A long discussion ensued about what we would do if we found a 'victim' - the difficulties of dealing with death at sea versus death on land. Anyway, the discussion on the linked thread is a great read!

She was tied up at South Street Seaport one rainy day, and I helped the cook load groceries down to the deck, since I was the only other person on the dock. He invited me aboard & below, where I spent some time with the crew chipping paint & rust off a cannon. Her loss was a sad surprise, but I've had three waterspouts in sight at the same time, sailing back from Bermuda. You never know what's going to happen next.
