Disability Sailing

Hi guys!

My name is Peter and I am from Slovenia. I am wondering if any of you guys know what would be a proper way to get sponsored for disability sailing. Do you need a representative agent, your own company or you can ask in person? I tried several times but I don't get any reply. :(

The goal of my project is:
  • development of reference class catamaran for various disability needs
  • accessible “passerella” ( safe alternative going on and out of the boat )
  • public construction of accessible ocean going catamaran ( Flying Manta )
  • round the world solo sailing trip
  • introduction to sailing and sailing tours for other people with disability
  • promotion of sailing in general and specific to disability needs
  • fun and free education about sailing ( free DVDs )
  • Return of investment, promotion and sincere gratitude to any one who can help

I know sponsorship is hard business for anybody but I was shocked to see absolutely no replays. Any constructive ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not sure. Are you asking if there are opportunities to get your business venture sponsored, or for chances to get a boat design financed?
I'm a disabled sailor, leg amputee, and here in the SF Bay area we have quite a few programs where people or groups take disabled people sailing, but it's mostly pretty much philanthropic non profit stuff.
To be totally honest, your best chances for sponsorship is to get started, generate some publicity, and then solicit for sponsorship. Companies and non profit organizations are good sources but most want to see a solid operation already doing good things before they help out.
I have quite a bit of experience in this area being involved in programs for disabled veterans and the sponsorship is out there but it's mainly a matter of knocking on doors and talking to lots and lots of people.

I was hoping to get sponsored for whole project but not for profit. Boat design, boat building, demo trip and sailing program similar like yours in SF Bay area. We don't have nothing like that here. There are some individuals every now and then but nothing permanent or constant. We are forgotten people here. I would like to change that.
