I don't think it's a win for lobbyist, it is however a win for common sense, lets wait and see what the studies have to say.

We don't need some puppet spending our money ( that we don't have ) on a bill targeting the marine industry and rec. boaters for something that most likely is created on surface streets and then deposited in the marine environment via storm drain systems.

+1 for common sense

Nice to hear a politician actually wants all the information prior to pushing through legislation that will have a very large impact on the marine community.

So much of this kind of legislation is strictly designed to gin up the extremist base and get votes. Passed or not, she tried, they will support her.

Given the efficacy and price narrowing of non-metal based bottom paints lately, I suspect they are going to get this one through eventually, just on the "why not" argument.

They won't be supporting her for State Senate at least, she's termed out of office.

Yeah, that's the short-sighted take on it. http://www.fotolode.com/images/fstbt...s/rolleyes.gif

Yeah, that'll be a real popular viewpoint when in-water hull cleaning is banned in California because we failed to control copper pollution by other, reasonable means.

in san diego the recreational boters are targeted for the disasters the navy and shipbuildng indrustries have done to the bay. is a good thing... the powers that be have been complaining of teredo worms in sd bay for long time--brought in by merchant ships....this postponemnt of the copper in paint ban is a good thing..mebbe some folks with wood boats can actually keep them afloat for a few more years.
