Re: "Help" Boat shopping on the Great Lakes?
From a Bucket list perspective, the MGB may be one check mark, but the sailboat should be a number of check marks. Just the process of finding the right boat and buying it can be a part time job. Learning to be a boat owner has a lot to figure out. Finally, learning to sail a boat will take years. I'm not trying to discourage you. This is just to point out that there are a bunch of wonderful processes that you could go through in exchange for that MGB.
Thank you and you are right. The sailing process is huge and very exciting at the same time. I know deep down that selling the car first is the more sensible option and then searching to purchase a sailboat.
What I've found now more than before is the number of people responding to items for sale are assuming you are selling out of desparation and the low balling gets almost insulting. I still think there are folks out there looking for that change who will be happy when a swap/trade suits both parties.
The MGB is a great hobby and the community was fun to be with. But the sailing possibilities are endless, from a cottage on the water to sailing anywhere you'd like to go! Can't wait for this to happen.
