Are surveyors using thermal imaging? I see home inspectors using thermal imaging to detect temperature differences which are indications of different moisture levels, electric hot spots, etc., in addition to traditional moisture meters & manual sounding. Isn't thermal imaging more precise?
Re: Thermal imaging
From some of the surveyors websites that I have been on, some are using thermal imaging, however I have yet to meet one to get his feedback. I got a quote on the purchase of a unit and the cost wasn't all that bad, but would a customer pay extra for this service or would it be a value added service at no charge. I think the purchase might not warrant itself for most surveys...ie: small inexpensive boats. I can really see the value for bigger expensive boats or a boat doing a circumnavigation.
All I will say is that when the thermal imaging sales rep did a demo for me on a boat...it was really cool.
