what stays, what goes?
We had a massive garage sale, with a pre-sale to local neighbors and friends first. What we didn''t sell we took to goodwill.
What we later found we didn''t need, we took to a friend''s garage sale or goodwill.
We use stoneware dishes, regular stainless silverware. (I think true "silver" would be an absolute horror to keep polished on board.) We really have no walls for artwork, so we gave some of it to good friends and we still enjoy it at their house. You need many of the same things as you do in a house, as you mentioned, towels, eating and cooking utensils, sheets, blankets, pillows, etc.
We kept two crystal goblets in socks on board with no problem for 5 years. We broke them when moving from one boat to another, on land.
We keep a small 3x3x3 A/C storage locker with photos and other items we can''t bear to lose. We also have a safety deposit box for important papers, etc. We put the jewelery in the SDB when traveling.
