Tices Shoal Barny Bay NJ

Rumor has it from a reliable source that Tices Shoal will in the near future be barricaded off just like the fate of F Cove. It was explained to me that Island Beach State Park wants it blocked off because they lose revenue from boaters spending the nights afloat and walk across the island to the beach which costs them money. Has anyone else heard this? I dont go there but they are estimating an influx of boats there this year since the demise of F Cove which would only help the case of IBSP.

Really? That' crazy. god forbid there is any way to get to the beach for "free" in NJ. Plus for many people all they do with thier boats is go and hang out at that place. So, if the STATE OWNED park cares about the economy of the State than they would be doing wrong by closing this down.

That said. I wonder if they are just going to close the boardwalk that connects the bay to the ocean. At least than people could still enjoy the shallows on the bay side and not get to the beach for free. Not easily at least. I think it would be hard for them to barricade off the actual shoal. Considering there is no bottle neck to get there, it's just open water really.

As I stated the source that told me is reliable and it all boils down to money and they will throw the pollution side in there as well to help their cause. I personally dont go there its just a shame to see that the fun police kick down the door of a good time.

I agree would be a shame to close down that area as it is one of the few places to anchor in the Bay.

As far as the "free beaches" comment. I doint beleive in them. If you want to have lifegaurds, clean beaches free of glass and trash and litter, someone has to pay for those services,

I lived in Ocean City, NJ for 18 years and dint beleive it was my resposibility to pay for the 200,000 tourists bi weekely to clean their mess. I did not benefit nor did the majority of property owners from their visiting and they left a humungous amount of trash. Imagine if 200,000 people visited your community every week for 20 weeks and utilized your parks, ran up huge OT for the police, public works and fire departments. And your taxes quadrupled to pay for the services

I strongly beleive in user fees and thats what keeps the beaches pristine and safe with life gaurds.

Re: Tices Shoal Barny Bay NJ

Ironically enough a study was done last year of the cleanest beaches in NJ. The top was a free public use beach.

Where was that beach? How much traffic...tourism did it get? Did it have lifegaurds?
Who paid for the cleanup?

Re: Tices Shoal Barny Bay NJ

i was preoccupied with something else so the details werent that important to me. I hate going and sitting on the beach to begin with. Go, surf and walk my happy self a block to my house for a beer.

Re: Tices Shoal Barny Bay NJ

I owned a house on the beach in Ocean City, NJ for 18 years and was so glad when then passed the ordinances to have beach tags. The beaches got cleaner and I wasnt forced to foot the bill for that or the lifegaurds for the masses of tourists

Re: Tices Shoal Barny Bay NJ

Lets be real they shut down F Cove because of liability. And that's why they will shut down Tices if they can. If they where losing that much money, they would have posted security there or a cashier. New Jersey politicians get Extemely paranoyed when to many people are having fun.
