Great vids... nice to see a family enjoying cruising. Have a great time and don't shortchange Barkley Sound and the Broken Group, as Jack said.

Ray- when we turned around just past Trial Is today we were doing 9+ knots, lots of fun. Beating into it, not so much, lots of water on deck and speed over ground about .7 knots. God I love Canada, friendliest people on the planet!
John - it looks like you hit the Trial Island toilet bowl.

Have a Race Rocks Amber for me.

Jack- we had an exceptional dinner at the restaurant here at Oak Bay, and a great bottle of BC Syrah (need to hit the grocery and stock up on brew for the trip in the morning). I knew it was going to go from bad to worse when we made the turn at Trial, but I just couldn't see 4 hrs to go 5 NM.

Right back at ya John. You and Laurie, Ray (erps) and Sandy...you made us feel right at home. And all the others we met from Olympia on up...thanks so much for putting up with us as we made our way north through your passages a couple of months ago, it makes all the difference. Americans are the friendliest people on the planet!

Bad words, bad words,

Anyone know a stainless welder in Sooke?

Things eased up and we where all settled in for a long ride up the straight when I discovered the starboard spreader foot us broken.... bummer. Sooke is closest so we are heading there for now and the night. (Picking up a little us 3g on my phone)

Bummer, but I guess it could be worse.

Bummer

There is not much in Sooke. Try a pm to mitiempo (Brian). He lives in Victoria.

A Google search did get me:

Bryan-we're anchored in Sooke tonight also, but like a dummy I left my wire feed welder at home:-)) We're planning to head out at 0400 to catch the last half of the ebb. Hope you get if fixed. Beautiful evening.

There is an excelent welder in Sooke. Ken Driver owns Driver Welding, it is down near the head of Sooke Basin. Ask anyone and they will know how to get to Driver Welding. He does some very nice work.
