stewpee is on a distinguished road
Cutter Rigs Vs. Sloop Rigs

I am new here, and consider this a response to the overopinionated individual who loves kitchen cookery.

Well I happen to like my tupperware26x, I often find that the people who advocate the most against them, have rarely compared them apples to apples, they would prefer to base their comparison on an apples to oranges fallacy. FOr the price, and design it is one very usable craft. Sure for 10k more base price you could get a Catalina, Hell add 100k more and we''ll get big time!
I believe that any one who has the nerve to put down another persons joy is wrong. If you want to modify your 26x go for it. Lets remember everyone, that part of owning a boat is making it your own. That is why I new majoring in Home Ec, with a minor in Tupperware wouold come in handy,,,oh and incidentally what type of powder do you where.

Cutter Rigs Vs. Sloop Rigs

I think that most of us have taken this question quite seriously and advised against the conversion because it would really alter the sailing characteristics of the boat probably quite negatively. We also have pointed out that done well the cost is quite significant +/- $3-4000 and that the original poster could take the resale price of his boat and the extra $3-4K and buy a boat that sails well enough to accomplish the better sailing ability that he is seeking.
Respectfully
Jeff

I would like to thank everyone who responded to my inqueries On the cutter rig modification, and after carefull consideration, research, and your many opinions and tips, I have decided that the cutter rig would produce a neglegable upwind gain and would upset the balence greatly. As many of you have indicated, I think the answer lies in deviating from the stock Macgregor rig tuning and sails. I have read about some Mac owners simply reducing the mast rake and getting better performence and a more balenced helm.

Thanks everyone!

Larry,
