My two weeks are in

I feel like I've been waiting for this moment forever and it would never actually get here, but my two weeks have been put in at work and departure is now in my sights. My husband finished his last day of work on Friday and will spend the next few weeks making last minute preparations on the boat for our July 31st departure.

There's a weird mixed feeling about this time where sometimes I'm so excited I think I might actually burst and other times I'm just going about my normal life and forget what's about to happen. I can only imagine the roller coaster I'll be on these last few weeks but before I know it we'll be throwing off the mooring lines and heading off into the deep blue Lake Michigan (and eventually sea). Wish us luck!!

Fair winds guys!

EDIT: Just checked out your blog, talk about dejavu...

I'm going to also wish you the very best of luck in addition to fair winds, and I have added your blog to my bookmarks.

Congratulations and the very best of luck !!!!!!!!!!!

I have read bits and pieces of your blog and I think what your doing is awesome.

We were very much at a similar point last year before we went off on our first extended taste of cruising.
(We are back now, we fell into the loved it so much so lets make some money quick to go again and go for longer and further camp)

So yeah I think I understand the whole surreal feelings that you are going through. I think it basically all comes down to the quote in my signature.

Fairwinds and good luck.

Hi there,
Just started reading your website and want to say "have a wonderful journey"
My wife and I are going to look at our first boat next week...1969 Albin Vega 27... if all goes well, we will be getting ready for next year's sailing season.
We watch the couple from Hawaii, Chuck and Laura Rose onboard "LeaLea" shown on you tube. They have inspired us to do this, plus it has always been our dream!
Good luck and peaceful sailing, you are very fortunate to have this opportunity....ENJOY!
Cheers from,
Southern Ontario

Re: My two weeks are in

Looks like you're setting up for a wonderful journey. When you get to the Chesapeake this autumn send us a PM or keep an eye out for us - I think we're the only boat around here with Northport MI as a hailing port. Reading your blog has been a bit of a nostalgia trip for us, we'll be following along. (and yes, we still have some goodies from Meijer's aboard also)

Re: My two weeks are in

I've read a lot of blogs online and seem cruising dreams come and go...I get the feeling that you guys are going to be one the ones that makes it long term. Something about the detail in which you're tracking costs and the order in which you've tackled boat projects.

Hope the adventure is what you were dreaming about and I hope to keep reading your blog 5 years from now!
