how to hook up manual pump

Ok so i just realized i have a manual bildge pump i wasn't sure what it was then i put 2 and 2 together and now i know what it is it isn't hook up right now but my question is how to hook it up. were do i put the hose to suck up the water just put it sitting on the lowest part of the boat inside? And does this mean i don't have to hook up the amotomatic bilge pump? or should i have both?

Um, yes both would be good. They employ 2 different through hulls though.

Above the waterline? The pickup tube for the hand pump will be in the lowest spot in the bilge along with the electric auto/manual pump.

Re: how to hook up manual pump

I have mine set up in the cockpit so I can use in under-way it pumps from the lowest point of the boat and I use it as my primary pump! It is screened with brass pick-up. My second pump is electric with a float switch ,it's set half-way up the keel just above the lead. My third pump is set up on the cabin sole, also with a float switch ,only this one pumps out on the cockpit floor so you know you have a problem. My yanmar YSM 8 has the provision of pumping off the cabinsole in a real emergency! Remember to keep your boat clean or all the pumps are useless!....Dale
