I thought instead of makeing a dozen or more threads on diffrent questions i will just ask every thing on this thread. so i got the jib today and the furlling unit. i will unfurl it tomarrow. Winds picked up to 20+ knots today so didn't want to test it out in that.
there were both a columbia 27 and a coranado 27. the same boat. there was a columbia 26 of that cabin style but the windows on your boat are columbia 27
According to the Columbia web site, that Columbia 27 was only built in Australia - I suspect it was the Coronado 27 built under license and used the better known Columbia name for marketing purposes.
Huck, congrats on the boat (and the title)! Looking forward to seeing pics of you under sail. Now update your profile before TOMORROW...it still says Mistral!
I got the roller furler working perfect it needed some wd40 to make it smooth. And i hooked up the manual bildge pump eletric one will go in tomorrow Probally. Also tomorrow i have to scrub the hull good and clean going sailing saturday. with just the genny. i will post pics of inteior soon bin working on it so a little of a mess now. and dam sloop john that looks like my boat the title says coulumbia 26' an it has the columbia plack on the back.
SO went sailing today it was awsome. But the thing is with the genoeo it pusshes the bow around sicne i don't have a main sail yet. Me and my dads problem was the bow was getting pushed down wind a lot and couldnt hold a striaght course. I also thing the winds swithing wasn't helping to much i will try again today and try to pull the sail in more and difrrent thing to it stay straight. any help will be apriecated.
Well, you need a main sail to balance the helm. Yes, you can sail under jib alone, but it moves all the effort to the bow, creating lee helm and a funky driving experience.
I know you're a young'n on a budget, so check out Bacon Sails. They sell new and used sails. Assuming your boat really is a Coronado 27, here's two:
